About 100 students of the University of Ilorin are to be penalised for indecent dressing, Dean of Student Affairs of the university Professor Sulaiman Abdulkareem, has said. He said the students, including two males, were apprehended recently by the university following several complaints from concerned parents and well-wishers over the indecent dressing of some students within and outside the campus.
Abdulkareem explained that the university had earlier introduced a dress code and taken time to counsel its students against imbibing the habit of indecent dressing. "The university authority is sad that girls who are students of the university can be singled out in town for unnecessary exposure of their bodies and underwear," he said. Abdulkareem noted that many of the female culprits who were caught in the act looked more like street women than university students to anyone who might have seen their pictures. He said the dress code policy would also be extended to staff as part of efforts to instil moral values in members of the university community. Last update : 27-04-2010 16:36
