When Abigail Ige, an HND II student of the Department of Microbiology, Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, left her hostel on Monday for Fayose Market on Ajilosun Road in the Ekiti State capital to buy fingerlings to be used for her project, she felt there was nothing to fear because her mission was a genuine one.
A 36 year old graduate of Public Administration, Akeem Lawal from Owo Local Government Area of the Ondo state, has been arrested by the State Police Command for alleged robbery. According to the police, the suspect and members of his gang specialized in snatching vehicles. The gang was allegedly involved in many robberies before police bust it on them.
Miss Fiona Amuzie Afora has won the 2010 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria. She was crowned by 2009’s Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, Glory Chukwu. The pageant’s first and second runners-up were Odaloni Ngozi from Niger, and Charity Chinenye from Ekiti, respectively. The pageant took place at Expo Hall in Eko Hotel and Suites in the commercial capital of Nigeria, Lagos. Fiona Amuzie Afora will go on to compete in the 60th Miss World pageant in Vietnam this fall. Over 120 nations will participate in the pageant.
Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos Professor Adetokunbo Sofoluwe said the university is being repositioned to become a post-graduate degree awarding institution only.
Sofoluwe, who disclosed this at a workshop organised by the School of Postgraduate Studies, said that the university had been given the mandate to focus more on post-graduate studies.

The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has donated 10 desktop computers and other accessories to the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB).
President of COREN Alhaji Ahmed Gumel, who presented the computers, said the materials are meant for the institution's Department of Civil Engineering. He said that the donation was part of the council's efforts at supporting the teaching of engineering programmes in tertiary institutions.
About 100 students of the University of Ilorin are to be penalised for indecent dressing, Dean of Student Affairs of the university Professor Sulaiman Abdulkareem, has said.
He said the students, including two males, were apprehended recently by the university following several complaints from concerned parents and well-wishers over the indecent dressing of some students within and outside the campus.
