Not many people can combine a passion and a studies. Here's a young Nigerian who combines both quite well and two extremes at that: Music and Medicine.
Abayomi Gbenga is a 19-year-old who hails from Ogun state but is currently studying medicine at the University of West Indies, Jamaica and is taking his passion for music. He does reggae,diasia R and B, rap and dancehall.
In this short interview Abayomi, or young_dy as he is called on stage tells about how he started out in music, his models, PSquare, and studies in the West Indies as a Nigerian.
Charlie Boy is not the ‘regular Nigerian’. Everything about your life sets you apart from most people. Why did you choose this path?
I wouldn’t say most of it is intentional. I guess it was my upbringing. We were raised a little differently. I guess I was stuffed with an overdose of morality, principles, values and all of that.
But the choice to be different has always been with me for as long as I can remember. There’s also my adventurous nature and the need to stand out in all that one does. I guess that’s what is responsible for me going that extra mile.
